Fenugreek and Breastfeeding

Most mothers will go out of their way to find ways on how to increase their milk supply to benefit their baby. Some mothers who have difficulty in producing breast milk will need all the food supplements that they can get in order to make sure that they are producing milk well enough for their baby.

One of most common herb known to man to increase breast milk supply is fenugreek. Studies show that fenugreek can increase a mother’s milk supply as fast as 36 to 72 hours after taking the first herb. Although scientists don’t know for certain what is in fenugreek that increases milk production, it has been thought of that this herb increases sweat production. Breasts are made up of sweat glands so taking fenugreek will make the breasts swell, producing more milk.

Fenugreek is available in capsule form or teas which can be purchased in leading nutrition stores and supermarkets.

A word of caution though, some women who used fenugreek had complained of asthma and lower sugar levels. So before you use this herb, you have to seek a stamp of approval from your doctor.
