Unveiling New Discoveries In Breastfeeding

As a mother, you probably read all the available literature about breastfeeding. You probably did your homework and undergone extensive research about everything concerned with breastfeeding.

But, the research process does not end there as many new discoveries are being introduced about breastfeeding.

Read along as we try to discuss the specific new discoveries that will surely give more benefit to your child.

If it’s your first time breastfeeding, after two to three days of breastfeeding, your breast milk is packed with a lot of vitamins and minerals that will benefit your child. In the forefront is Taurine, a brain-building substance known to make kids smart.

Another tidbit of information for all those mothers who are planning to stop after a few months of breastfeeding, babies who are born into the culture of self-weaning will do the weaning itself and stop drinking breast milk after age 5. So, before you decide to stop, think about this fact.

Most mothers are usually paranoid if ever they get sick during the breastfeeding process, thinking that there is a possibility that their illness will spread to their child. Surprisingly, recent studies show that when mothers are down with flu, their breast milk contains white blood cells which are the fighter cells who directly attack bacteria and virus, so you have nothing to worry about. To put a stop to your worries, consult your doctor about this concern.

But the downside to this is you have to be aware of all the drugs (both prescribed and illegal drugs) that you consume while you are breastfeeding. To be on the safe side, consult your lactation expert or a doctor if you can be prescribed drugs. Get a go signal from him before you start anything.

Thanks to advanced technology, we are now squashing previous misconceptions about breastfeeding and at the same time adding more benefits to it. If you are still not convinced that breastfeeding should be done, just think how much your child can benefit from it. That alone is enough to justify all the hardwork you have to put into breastfeeding.
